About Emergency Plumber

We publish emergency plumbing information and do not perform repairs. The site covers what to do in the first ten minutes of a plumbing emergency, what repairs actually cost, and how those answers change across all 50 states.

What this site is

Emergency Plumber exists for two moments: the ten minutes after something goes wrong, and the days afterward when you are deciding what to do about it properly.

Plumbing is unusual among household emergencies in that most of the damage is determined before a professional arrives. A half-inch supply line releases roughly 400 to 500 gallons an hour, and nobody arrives in under thirty minutes. That is why the first thing on nearly every page here is what you can do yourself, starting with the main shutoff valve.

What we publish

How we make money, and what that means

The phone number on this site connects with a licensed emergency plumbing partner rather than with our editorial team. That is a commercial relationship and it funds the site, and it is disclosed next to every call to action on every page rather than buried here.

What that relationship does not do is shape the written guidance. Several pages here exist specifically to tell readers not to make an emergency call: when to call an emergency plumber and when to wait is largely a list of problems that are cheaper to schedule for Tuesday morning, because a large share of after-hours calls are for exactly those.

We also tell people to verify a license before authorising work, to refuse to sign for major work at 3am, and to get competing quotes in daylight. Those are the right answers even though they are not the most commercially convenient ones.

About the numbers

Every cost and response time here is an editorial estimate for orientation, not a quote. Our methodology page sets out where the figures come from and, more importantly, what their limitations are. Read it before relying on any number on this site.
